I had a JCM combo for a while, and it was a great amp. Nice, nice cleans, and really decent OD. It's not a metal amp, but will cover most.

The clean channel takes pedals very well also. I agree that if metal is your thing you'll need a boost, but it does clean to mid-gain quite well. In fact you could use that amp to play metal Just curious about it.
